Frequently Asked Questions

Orders:

How long will it take to get my order?

We usually process orders within in 48 hours of receiving them – often faster – providing the products you’re ordering are in stock. If we’re out of stock on an item, it should be reflected on the website with a note in the description. During the warmer months, we prefer to ship early in the week so the balms are not sitting in a hot place over the weekend, so we may hold your package until Monday after the order is placed.

If we're experiencing slower ship times, we'll let you know. Once an order is shipped normal transit times apply.

 

How do you ship orders?

Most orders are shipped via USPS priority mail, but we also ship via UPS. Larger orders are more often shipped via UPS. If you have a preference regarding your carrier, please put that in the comments section as you check out. We ship from Portsmouth, NH.

 

Will I get a tracking number?

Yes, you’ll be emailed a tracking number when the shipping label is created. It might take 24 hours for the tracking link to show movement of the package as we may pack an order in the afternoon, but it is not picked up by the shipper until the next day.

 

If you’re out of stock on an item how long will it take to ship?

Out of Stock Items take 10 days to 2 weeks to ship. We produce in small batches and we try to be in stock on all items, but sometimes we just can’t anticipate how quickly sales are coming in. We maintain a pretty good position on balms, but sometimes we get low on the oils.

Returns and Dissatisfaction:

What if I don’t like the scent I chose?

Remember that the oils used in our blends are chosen for their therapeutic properties, not necessarily because of how they smell, but we do try to create blends that smell good! Please give your blend a try for a few days and see if the scent ‘grows’ on you. If not, contact us at help@shopmoodfood.com. We’ll work with you to suggest a substitute or send you samples of alternative blends to try.

 

Can I return the products?

If you are not satisfied with your order for any reason, please email us at help@shopmoodfood.com. We want the products to resonate with you, meet your needs and bring joy & peace to your day. We’ll work with you to make things right.

 

My product arrived damaged, what should I do?

We take care to package orders as carefully as possible, but sometimes the balms melt, glass bottles break and packages get crushed. We understand. Please take some pictures so we can show them to the shipper and process a refund for shipping on our end. We’ll send out replacements to you as quickly as possible. Special Orders, Sampling and Donations

 

Do you have samples of the scents? How can I try them before I commit to one?

We’re big on sampling! And we understand how hard it is to choose a scent online. We always include samples of blends that are complimentary to what’s been order with every purchase.

If you’ve decided to place an order, feel free to write in on the comment field a balm that caught your eye that you’d like to try. Currently, we keep samples of most balms on hand at all times. We do not keep samples of all oils on hand at this time.  We’re working on a sampling program – check back soon for further details.

 

I’m getting married/having a party & need favors and want to purchase quite a few balms. Do you give bulk discounts?

We’re always thrilled to share balms – in fact, this is exactly how we shared the news about the launch of Mood Food to our founder’s group of friends - at a dinner with balms lined up at every place setting. Shoot us a note @ help@shopmoodfood.com and we’ll figure out a way to make your bridesmaids gifts or party favors special and affordable. We can create special pairings of full sized balms with custom stickers or mini kits just for your occasion.

 

I’m having a charity event with a silent auction; can you donate something?

Fill us in @ help@shopmoodfood.com and we’ll review the requirements and timing. We have a soft spot for cancer awareness events, anything that supports mental health, women who are in need and the correction of injustice.

 

Can you make a custom scent for an event or for my business?

Product Questions:

Why don’t you make diffuser blends?

We’re really big on balms these days! Diffuser blends might be part of our future offering, but these days we’re keeping our offering ‘close to the body.’ We do have a line of sprays in development – they’ll be launching soon.

 

Do you use organic oils?

Yes! All of our base materials – oils and waxes - are organic. We source essential oils from top quality suppliers and for the most part they are also organic. There are some essential oils that we are unable to source as organic, but all essential oils we use are therapeutic grade – meaning they are not diluted and are pure essential oil. In our new line of sprays, we use distilled water, which is unable to be labeled as organic. 

 

How do I apply my balm?

Just rub it on your skin. Then: Stop. Breathe. Relax. You can use your balm pretty much anywhere – your wrists (pulse points), your neck, your chest. Apply as needed throughout the day or night. The scents are designed to provide a ‘hit’ that lingers a bit, but they are not designed to last as a perfume would be.

Our base is also super emollient so don’t be afraid to swipe on cuticles, elbows, heels and anywhere else that you might need a little moisture.
